April 2026 - Ministry Update

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we enter the month of April, we give thanks to God for His mercy and faithfulness. We continue to trust in His sustaining power as we labor in His vineyard, even in the midst of trials and difficult circumstances.

A Time of Mourning in Haiti

This month, we share with you a heavy heart concerning a tragic incident that occurred near Citadelle Laferrière, close to Cap-Haïtien. A large gathering of young people at this historic mountain site led to a devastating situation where overcrowding and the high altitude contributed to a loss of oxygen. Sadly, approximately 30 youths lost their lives.

This tragedy has deeply impacted many families and communities across Haiti. We humbly ask you to keep these families in your prayers, that God may grant them comfort, peace, and strength during this time of mourning.

Prayer for the Mission

We continue to ask for your prayers for God’s presence, protection, and guidance over the Churches of Christ in southern Haiti—our ministers, teachers, students, and families.

“The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect His people.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

The needs before us remain urgent:

  • School Expansion: Enrollment is increasing, and classrooms are overcrowded. We seek to provide a safe and Christ-centered learning environment (Galatians 6:9).

  • St. Martin Church of Christ: Located near the ocean and damaged by the earthquake, the building is at risk of collapse without renovation.

  • Child Sponsorships: Many students are living in poverty and need support for education and daily care.

  • Restroom Construction: A modern restroom is needed for both the church and school on the same compound.

  • Transportation for Preachers: Reliable transportation is needed for ministers traveling long distances (Romans 10:15).

  • School Equipment: Printers and basic office tools are needed for daily operations.

Gratitude for Support

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who have supported us following the fire that damaged our office and destroyed essential materials. Your generosity has helped us begin to recover.

We extend a special thank you to Brother Nevin Curtis for his kindness and support during this time.

A Call to Prayer

Above all, we humbly ask for your prayers.

Christian Mission South Haiti needs your prayers. Many families within our churches are facing difficult circumstances and are in need of God’s provision.

Please pray:

  • For financial opportunities to help families sustain themselves

  • For the continued strength and growth of the ministry

  • For God’s provision to return fully to Haiti and continue the work on the ground

Prayer for Our Ministers

We also ask for prayers for our ministers who are laboring faithfully:

Alex Lusma, Saurel Augustin, Jean Yves St Clair, Rivette Jean Annonce, Teonel Taya, Dieulifaite Saint-Vil, Brunel Theneus, Yvon St-Prino, Worldensky Alcide, Azor Evens, and Dieusel Bernard.

May the Lord strengthen and guide them in their service.

Closing Encouragement

Thank you for your continued prayers and for standing with us in the work of the Lord.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58

With gratitude and hope in Christ,

Alix Lusma
