Palm Sunday: A King, A Cross, and a Call to Action

Palm Sunday: A King, A Cross, and a Call to Action

Today, as we reflect on Palm Sunday, we remember the moment when Jesus entered Jerusalem—not as a political conqueror, but as a humble King. The crowds welcomed Him with palm branches, shouting “Hosanna!” (John 12:13), celebrating hope, deliverance, and salvation.

Yet, within days, that same crowd would turn.

Palm Sunday is not just a celebration—it is a revelation of the human heart and a call to deeper commitment.

A King Worth Following—Not Just Celebrating

The people praised Jesus, but many misunderstood His mission. They expected immediate relief, political change, and earthly solutions. But Christ came for something greater—the salvation of souls.

Today, we must ask ourselves:

  • Do we follow Christ only when it is convenient?

  • Or are we committed to His mission, even when it requires sacrifice?

The Reality of Our Mission in Haiti

At Christian Mission South Haiti (CMSH), Palm Sunday carries a deeper weight. It reminds us that ministry is not just about moments of celebration—but about endurance, sacrifice, and obedience.

As shared in our recent newsletters:

  • Our schools are growing, but classrooms are overcrowded

  • Our preachers travel long distances, often without transportation

  • Families in our churches are struggling, seeking daily provision

  • Children need sponsors, many living in poverty

  • The St. Martin Church of Christ stands in danger of collapse without urgent repairs

  • Our school and church compound lack proper restroom facilities

  • We are still recovering from the fire that affected our office operations

These are not just needs—they are opportunities for the Kingdom.

Palm Sunday Is a Call to Respond

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people gave Him praise. But today, Christ is not asking for palm branches—He is calling for faithful laborers.

The question is no longer:👉 “Will we celebrate Him?”But rather:👉 “Will we follow Him?”

  • Will we pray for those in need?

  • Will we support the work of the Gospel?

  • Will we help build what God is establishing?

A Call to Prayer and Partnership

On this Palm Sunday, we humbly ask:

  • Pray for Christian Mission South Haiti

  • Pray for our ministers, teachers, and families

  • Pray for financial opportunities that will allow families to sustain themselves

  • Pray for our return to Haiti and the continuation of the mission on the ground

And if the Lord places it on your heart, consider how you might take part in this work—not out of obligation, but out of love for Christ.

From Hosanna to Commitment

Palm Sunday teaches us this truth:

It is easy to cry “Hosanna”—But it is harder to carry the cross.

Yet, this is exactly what Christ calls us to do.

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)

Final Reflection

As we move toward the cross this week, may our faith not be shallow or temporary—but rooted, steadfast, and obedient.

Let us not only welcome Christ with words—Let us follow Him with our lives.

With faith, urgency, and hope,Christian Mission South Haiti (CMSH)
