Christian Mission South Haiti Newsletter - September 2023
Dear Supporters and Friends of Christian Mission South Haiti,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It is with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency that we reach out to you today. We want to express our profound gratitude for your unwavering support over the years, but we also must share the challenging circumstances we currently face in Haiti.
A Nation in Crisis
Haiti, our beloved home, is undergoing a catastrophic crisis. Armed gangs are terrorizing the population, making daily life a perilous endeavor. The situation has escalated to the point where a mass exodus of people from Port-au-Prince to Les Cayes is underway. Families are fleeing their homes, seeking refuge from the rising conflict and violence. This crisis has touched us deeply, as we have welcomed a displaced family into our own home due to the dangers they faced in their previous community.
Security Concerns
The security situation in Les Cayes, our home base, has also deteriorated significantly. Armed men have moved into the area, and we have experienced multiple burglaries. Our Toyota vehicle was targeted, and its battery was stolen. Furthermore, the Engine Control Unit (ECU), or brain box, of both of our trucks was stolen as well. These losses have posed immense challenges to our operations and the safety of our team. We humbly ask for your prayers for our safety and resources to replace the stolen items.
Prayers for Christian Mission South Haiti
During these challenging times, we rely on your unwavering support and prayers more than ever. We urgently need new friends and supporters to join us in our mission to bring hope and relief to the people of Les Cayes and the surrounding areas. Please pray for our safety and the courage to continue serving our community despite these hardships.
Charlette Church of Christ Conference
We want to bring your attention to an upcoming event that is both vital and uplifting. Charlette Church of Christ will host a conference starting on Thursday. This event is of great importance to us, as it provides an opportunity to gather and strengthen our faith during these turbulent times. Our preachers, who play a crucial role in spreading the word of God, are currently facing transportation challenges. We are in need of a motorcycle to help them reach more communities and share the message of hope. Your prayers for the success of this conference and support in obtaining a motorcycle would be greatly appreciated.
Supporting Education
Our commitment to education remains unwavering, even in the face of adversity. The academic school year has commenced, but many parents in our community cannot afford to send their children to school due to the dire economic situation. This is where your prayers and support are indispensable. We need your help to provide a steady wage for our dedicated faculty and staff, ensuring that education remains accessible to all children, regardless of their financial circumstances.
How You Can Help
In these trying times, your support can make a tremendous difference. Here are ways you can help:
Financial Support: Your generous donations will enable us to replace the stolen vehicle parts, enhance security measures, and continue our vital work in Les Cayes.
Prayers: Please keep us in your prayers. Pray for the safety and well-being of our team, the displaced families in our care, and the entire community of Les Cayes.
Spread the Word: Share our mission and our urgent needs with your friends, family, and community. Together, we can make a more significant impact.
Educational Sponsorship: Consider sponsoring a child's education. Your support can change a young life and contribute to a brighter future for Haiti.
Conclusion
In closing, we want to thank you from the depths of our hearts for your enduring support and prayers. We believe that, with God's guidance and your unwavering assistance, we can overcome these challenges and continue to be a beacon of hope in our community.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas on how we can navigate through these trying times. We value your feedback and suggestions.
May God bless you abundantly for your love and dedication to Christian Mission South Haiti. Together, we can make a difference, one life at a time.
