Easter Newsletter – April 2025
“He is not here; He is risen, just as He said.” – Matthew 28:6
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace, mercy, and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
As we rejoice in the glorious resurrection of our Savior, we are reminded that the hope we have in Christ is not shaken by the troubles of this world. Though Haiti is facing some of the darkest days in her recent history, the light of the Gospel continues to shine through faithful hands and willing hearts.
This Easter, we at Christian Mission South Haiti hold firmly to the promise of new life. In a nation burdened by suffering, Christ’s resurrection is our anchor.
The Current Reality in Haiti
The people of Haiti are enduring tremendous hardship. Gang violence continues to spread, displacing families, closing down communities, and leaving many in fear. The capital and surrounding areas are under siege. The south—where our mission is located—has long been a place of relative calm, but even now, criminal groups are slowly advancing.
Poverty is on the rise. Food and fuel prices have skyrocketed. Many of our students come to school with empty stomachs. Families must choose between feeding their children or sending them to class. Teachers labor without pay. Churches worship under tarps. Communities are weary.
But we are not without hope.
Our Mission Continues – and So Does the Need
In the face of these challenges, we remain steadfast in our calling. And now more than ever, we need your help. By God’s grace and your generosity, we hope to:
Provide a daily meal for our students—something warm, something filling, something they can count on.
Support our dedicated teachers, who are shepherding minds and hearts, often without salary or supplies.
Equip our preachers with motorcycles so they can safely reach isolated congregations with God’s Word.
Expand our radio ministry through a much-needed 300-watt transmitter, to share the Gospel across the region.
Build a church for the saints in Ceide, who still gather under a tarp, rain or shine, to worship our Risen Lord.
He Lives, So We Serve
This Easter, we are reminded that death does not have the final word—Jesus lives! And because He lives, we press on. We serve, we teach, we preach, and we feed. Every dollar given, every prayer lifted, every message shared is part of the resurrection work of Christ among the poor and hurting.
As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:58:"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
Thank You
Thank you for being part of this mission. Thank you for your prayers, your support, and your love. In the face of violence, we bring peace. In the face of hunger, we bring bread. And in the face of despair, we bring the eternal hope of the empty tomb.
With gratitude and Easter joy,
Jean Lusma
