Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We pray this message finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. We are writing to share an update from Christian Mission South Haiti (CMSH) and to keep you informed of the work God is doing in southern Haiti.
By the grace of God, Christian Mission South Haiti recently held its Annual Assembly, where affiliated congregations gathered for three days of fellowship. During this time, we were blessed with uplifting praise and worship, shared meals, and meaningful spiritual encouragement. It was a powerful reminder of the unity we have in Christ and the importance of strengthening one another in the faith, especially in the midst of ongoing challenges.
We would also like to share that Pastor Jean Alix Lusma was unable to attend the Annual Assembly, as he is currently in Florida. However, his presence in the United States provides a valuable opportunity for connection. Should any church leaders desire to speak with him, he is available at this time and would welcome the opportunity for fellowship and discussion.
As we continue forward, we ask that you keep Christian Mission South Haiti in your prayers. We are trusting God for His continued presence, protection, and guidance over the Churches of Christ in southern Haiti—our ministers, teachers, students, and families. We hold firmly to the promise that “the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect His people” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
The work before us remains urgent. One of our greatest needs is the expansion of our school classrooms. Enrollment continues to increase, and we desire to provide a safe and Christ-centered environment where students can grow both academically and spiritually (Galatians 6:9).
We also bring to your attention the condition of St. Martin Church of Christ, which is located close to the ocean. The building was severely damaged by the earthquake, and without urgent renovations, it is at risk of collapse. This is a serious concern for the safety of the congregation, and we are prayerfully seeking support to restore this place of worship.
In addition, we are seeking sponsors for children in our school who are living in poverty. Many of these students depend on the support they receive through the mission. If the Lord places it on your heart, you may help with any amount to support a child’s education and well-being.
Another important need is the construction of a modern restroom facility to serve both our church and our school, which are located on the same compound. This would greatly improve sanitation and provide dignity for those we serve daily.
We also seek prayer for transportation for our preachers, many of whom travel long distances under difficult conditions to serve their congregations. Reliable transportation would greatly enhance their ability to preach, teach, and shepherd effectively (Romans 10:15).
Additionally, our schools remain in need of basic office equipment, including printers, to support daily operations such as preparing exams, lesson materials, and administrative documents.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported us financially following the fire that damaged our office and destroyed essential supplies. Your generosity has helped us begin to recover and continue the work. We extend a special thank you to Brother Nevin Curtis for his support and kindness during this time.
Above all, we humbly ask for your prayers. Christian Mission South Haiti needs your prayers. Many families within our churches are facing difficult circumstances and are in need of God’s provision. We ask that you pray for the Lord to open doors of financial opportunity for Christian Mission South Haiti, so that we may help create sustainable means for church members to support their families. We also ask for your prayers as we seek God’s will and provision to return fully to Haiti and continue the work on the ground.
We also humbly request specific prayers for our ministers: Alex Lusma, Saurel Augustin, Jean Yves St Clair, Rivette Jean Annonce, Teonel Taya, Dieulifaite Saint-Vil, Brunel Theneus, Yvon St-Prino, Worldensky Alcide, Azor Evens, and Dieusel Bernard. May the Lord strengthen, protect, and guide each of them as they serve His people.
While we share these needs, our primary desire is to build relationships with congregations who have a heart for the Lord’s work. If you would be willing, we would be grateful for your prayers and for the opportunity to stay connected and share future updates from Christian Mission South Haiti. Should you have an interest in learning more or exploring ways to be involved, we would be honored to continue that conversation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update. May the Lord bless your congregation and continue to guide your work in His Kingdom.
“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58
In Christ,
