A Legacy of Faith and Service
Greetings, beloved friends and supporters,
As we are concluding the vibrant month of May, we at Christian Mission South Haiti are filled with gratitude for your continued prayers, love, and support. It is through your generosity and unwavering commitment that we have been able to carry out God's work in South Haiti since our inception in 1992.
Our Journey Since 1992
Christian Mission South Haiti was born out of a vision to bring hope, love, and the message of Christ to the people of Haiti. Over the past 32 years, we have touched countless lives, built churches that serve as beacons of hope, and established schools that educate and empower future generations. Our mission has always been to serve the most vulnerable and to bring holistic development to the communities we work in.
Current Challenges and Needs
Despite our efforts and achievements, we face significant challenges that threaten the sustainability of our mission. Our school, which currently educates over 300 students, is a testament to our commitment to providing quality education. However, many of our students come from impoverished backgrounds, arriving at school hungry and unable to afford basic supplies. Our dedicated teachers, who pour their hearts into nurturing these young minds, have not been paid due to lack of funds. We urgently need your contributions to pay our teachers' salaries and provide meals for our students.
Rebuilding After the 2021 Earthquake
The devastating earthquake of 2021 left an indelible mark on our mission. Many of our buildings, including our guest house and orphanage water tower, were damaged or collapsed. The guest house, which once welcomed supporters like you, is no longer standing. The orphanage’s water tower, crucial for providing clean water to our children, is also in ruins. Rebuilding these structures is a monumental task that requires substantial financial resources.
Sustaining Our Radio Ministry
Our radio ministry has been a powerful tool for spreading the Gospel and providing much-needed information and encouragement to the community. We have our own towers and equipment, but we lack the funds to keep the station running. Without your support, this vital ministry faces the risk of shutting down, silencing a voice of hope in South Haiti.
Essential Needs: Food and Medicine
The need for food and medicine remains critical for the impoverished communities we serve. The lack of these basic necessities exacerbates the daily struggles of many families. We currently support 11 families, including preachers, their wives, and children, who rely on us for their survival. Your prayers and contributions can make a significant difference in their lives.
Waiting on God’s Timing
While our hearts are eager to do more and to do it swiftly, we have learned to wait for God's perfect timing. Last year, during our Annual Assembly, we sent four pastors to new mission fields. However, they face the challenge of inadequate transportation. Each motorcycle, essential for their daily travel to remote areas, costs $1500 USD. Your generosity can help these pastors reach more souls with the message of Christ.
How You Can Help
Financial Contributions: Your donations can help us pay our teachers, provide meals for our students, rebuild our damaged structures, sustain our radio ministry, and supply food and medicine to those in need.
Prayer: Pray for our mission, our staff, the families we support, and the communities we serve. Your prayers are a source of strength and encouragement.
Spread the Word: Share our mission with your friends, family, and church communities. The more people who know about our work, the greater the support we can garner.
Volunteer: If you have skills or resources that can aid our mission, consider volunteering your time and expertise.
Conclusion
As we reflect on the past and look towards the future, we are reminded of the incredible impact that faith and community can have. Christian Mission South Haiti remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the people of South Haiti, but we cannot do it alone. Your continued support, in whatever form it takes, is invaluable.
In closing, we leave you with this verse: "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9)
May God's blessings be upon you and your families. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for your unwavering support.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Lusma Jean Alix - Field Director
